It offers a wonderful view of Annapurna, Dhaulagiri, Machhapuchhre, and many other Himalayas. It is an easy 5-day trek that starts from Nayapul, one hour drive from the beautiful city, Pokhara.

Poon Hill is hugely rewarded with magnificent sunrise views of Annapurna and Dhaulagiri ranges to the north. It lies at 3, meters high above the sea level. The outstanding sunrise view from Poon Hill makes this place a paradise. You can witness lowland hills to the south, terraced slopes, and unique villages in this area. In addition to that, you can encounter the wonderful culture and lifestyle of the local people. We will walk approximately hours from Nayapul to Ulleri village. Heading towards to this route, we will cross the Magar village of Banthanti. From here, the views of Machhapuchhre 6,mHimchuli 6,Mand Annapurna South 7,m look spectacular. We will walk through a forest area full of rhododendron, oak, and pine trees.

After that, we will arrive at Ghorepani enjoying the view of the forest and natural vegetation throughout the walk.

From Poon Hill, we will see the spectacular view of Annapurna and Dhaulagiri, the two major mountains above meters. The awesome sunrise view over the Himalayan ranges is breathtaking. After enjoying all the beautiful moments we will trek back to Ghorepani.

Then we leave Ghorepani to reach our next destination to Tadapani village. This trail leads to uphill and downhill through dense and beautiful forests.

After spending a day in Namche you return to Lukla by the same route and fly back to Kathmandu. The first few days are spent ascending through the forests before you reach treeline at Cholang Paty from where you get your first glimpse of the towering Langtang Himal and Annapurna in the far distance. Rest for the night at the tea houses of Lauribinayek and then get up early the following morning to hike up to the lakes.

There are two of these pagodas in Nepal, and one is in Lumbini and another in Ananda Hill in Pokhara. Situated at around 1,m above sea level, it lies on the south side of the Pokhara city.

What makes this stupa very special and worth going to is that it gives its visitors a panoramic view of the mountain ranges Annapurna, Manaslu, and Dhaulagiri by the Phewa Lake, provided the weather is clear. The hike is relatively short and should be at around four hours in total.

For those with limited time, this is an excellent way to experience hiking in Nepal and see the villages around more up close! Ananda Hill can also be reached by car or taxi both from the heart of the city. The hiking trail requires crossing a lake by a boat and then a fair hike all the way to the top of Ananda Hill. You may want to time reaching the top of the hill by around sunset time as that is probably one of the most dramatic sunsets you would see in your lifetime with the colors of the mountains changing too!

Worth the uphill trek. Note that it maybe icy so bring along crampons and a torch. Some of the reviews here are comparing it to those longer treks that are less busy and probably more beautiful. I actually thought the view from one of the points between Ghorepani and Tadapani was better, and really do wonder if I needed to get up so early to see it at dawn. Apparently the view is clearest before midday so I probably could have gone at 9 and missed the crowds and the freezing cold.

The trek itself though was just amazing. Changing scenery the whole time and lots of little tea houses to stop at to refresh or for lodging. You can do it anywhere between days depending if you rest earlier each day. I guess all my cardio is on relatively flat surfaces. We did it in 4 days with one day being only a half day. Pulled up fine but not sure if we could have done it in 3 days or if we would have been sore.

We did talk to some other trekkers who were using the poon hill trek as training for the day treks. Incredible experience. Amazing views, lovely locals in the mountains and surprisingly great food throughout! Our first ever trek and definitely one to remember. Would recommend a tour guide if it's your first trek as our one made our whole experience he was amazing. If you book locally its much cheaper than booking online.

I walked the Annapurna circuit and Poon Hill was my second last night night after two weeks on the track. Luckily we had seen the mountains before we walked up Poon Hill as when we got to the top it was all cloudy.

I feel for the people who just do the Panorama treks and dont see any mountains because of the cloud. This is the best place for sunrise watching and the mountain ranges of the Himalayas. Entrance fee is NPR for foreigners. We had to wake up at 4. Torch is required since walking in the dark before sunrise.

Walking pole can be useful too. There is a viewing tower where visitor can climb up for different views and vendor selling tea. Since it was winter when we were there, it was -7 degree celcius.

Hence, warm clothing, gloves, hats and scarves, plus good walking shoes are essential. Excellent views from the top at Poonhill and really worth it to wake up early and the climb up for 45 mins to an hour. My guide got me up early and it was well worth the hour hike.
